Note: Since this is the first film by our production company and it is a short, we are working on an extremely small budget. We plan to increase our pay scale as our projects grow. The $50 per day scale is a token of our intentions to make sure our cast is compensated for their hard work. Thank you!!

Auditions: The auditions will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Black Box Theatre inside Bronson Hall at LSU-Shreveport (8515 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA).

Please email AdventuresInLoveCasting@gmail.com to receive an audition time. Please bring two headshots/resume to the audition. Actors ARE encouraged and PREFERRED to dress in character. This will give us a feel of what you can bring to the table, concerning your character.

LOGLINE

Romantic Drama; "After a dramatic event, a girl from the city ends up in the country and falling in love with a man and in a world that she would have never imagined herself in."

SYNOPSIS

Carly Cane, a young lady from the city, is traveling home from vacation. As Carly drives through a country town, she hits a young man, Danny Martin, with her car.

Carly goes to court for hitting Danny with her car. The judge orders her to spend two years in jail or she can spend a month helping Danny out on his family farm.

Carly, to avoid jail time, spends a month on Danny's farm. Once Carly gets to know Danny, she falls in love with him and spends the rest of her life as a "country girl."

CHARACTERS

ALL characters have southern accents, EXCEPT: Carly, Brittany, and Mr. Golden

Carly and Brittany are both "city girls." Mr. Golden is an attorney from the "big city."

Danny and Carly are the only lead roles. We understand that for the lead roles there are quite a few scenes we are using to audition. We just want to get a feel of how the character will respond in different situations, especially Carly.

[Carly Cane] - late 20s, W/F; a beautiful, confident, city girl who realizes later that she is a very humble, easy-going, country girl at heart. She is the main character of the story, who changes her views on life as she learns life's lessons. She begins the story as a nail salon and shopping mall girl to become a young woman who is very easy-to-please and puts others first. Audition - Carly's Lines in Scenes 1, 4, 5, 18, & 22

[Danny Martin] - late 20s, early 30s, W/M; a young man who grew up in the country and knows no other way. He is smart man, but has no desire to have fancy or expensive things. He gives Carly a chance, even though she is often mean and rude to him at first. Danny always sees life from the positive standpoint. Audition - Danny's Line in Scenes 4, 5, 8, 20

[Judge Frank Campbell] - early 50s; a no nonsense kind of judge, W/M. He is from the country and has been to the "big city" for law school. He knows the city life and country life and has chosen to come back to his hometown and is now the district judge there. He also officiates Danny and Carly's wedding at the end of the film. Audition - Judge Campbell Sides

[Tommy] - open, W/M; working class guy, but could also be called a "typical redneck." He helps Danny load hay into the back of his truck at the country store. He checks on Danny when he gets hit by Carly's car and tells the attendant to call an ambulance. He is working at the feed store when Carly and Danny stop by to get feed. He jokes with Carly about hitting Danny. Audition - Tommy Sides

[Mr. Golden] - late 30s, early 40s, W/M; an excellent trial lawyer from "up north." He is Carly's attorney for the trial. He is in good shape physically and obviously not from the south. He is not use to the "southern" way law is practiced, but understands that each judge is the "ruler" of their courtroom. He is anxious to get back "up north." Audition - Mr. Golden Sides and Terry Colfax Sides

[Terry Colfax] - open, 35 to 55, W/M; He is the assistant DA in the small county where Danny lives. He is a country lawyer who has lived in this small town his whole life also. Went to a "community college" law school and looks out for "his people." He is cut short making his opening statement by Judge Campbell. Audition - Mr. Golden Sides and Terry Colfax Sides

[Gas Station Attendant] - 20s or 30s, preferably B/M; He is a country guy, average working class guy. He is happy with what he is doing. He has always been in a small town, never left the area. He puts gas into Carly's car when she stops at the country store. Audition - Mr. Golden Sides and Gas Station Attendant Sides

[Brittany] - 20s or 30s, W/F; She is a "typical" city girl. Very pretty. She is watching Carly as she get's packed to go to Danny's farm. Brittany gives Carly a hard time about her misfortune, while she drinks her latte and critiques Carly's every move. Audition - Brittany Sides

[Kacie] - 20s or 30s, W/F; She is a country girl. She is a pretty cashier at the market where Carly and Danny go to get groceries. Kacie has known Danny her whole life. She asks him about his leg, catching herself in an embarrassing moment when she realizes Carly is who hit him. Audition - Shay Sides and Kacie Sides

[Shay] - 20s or 30s, W/F; She is a country girl. She hands Carly a hanger at the wiener roast. She has known Danny her whole life. She jokes with Carly about hitting Danny with her car. Audition - Shay Sides and Kacie Sides
