Mary Thoma Workshops announces two workshops for young actors:
Acting Fundamentals for Young People
Whether
you are new to acting or an experienced artist, MTW is dedicated to the
development of impassioned students who possess powerful imaginations,
intense intellects, and an open and joyful heart deeply connected to
the people and the world around them.
Both workshops will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008
Ages 8 - 10 years Workshop meets 9:00 am - 12 :00 pm
Fee: $50
Ages 11 - 17 years Workshop meets 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Fee: $60
At the Shreveport Little Theatre ( 812 Margaret Place)

Award -winning actress, director and teacher Mary Thoma has been
teaching workshops in acting, empowerment, American Sign Language and
"Reclaiming Your Creativity"
to young people and adults for over 25 years. With credits in theater,
film, television and radio; she is also the founder of two theater
companies: The Sign Company (co- founded with David Hylan and Jeffrey
Rivers) for hearing and hearing- impaired performers, and the This I s
Who I Am © Summer Institute for marginalized youth. She has developed a
variety of special programs including: The Girls
Getaway Creativity Day Camps, S. P. E. A. K. for young women and Acting
Fundamentals for Young People. Mary Thoma currently teaches acting at
Southfield Middle School and is active in theatre, television, radio
and film.
In 2008, Mary Thoma Workshops was founded to provide professional acting instruction to young people and adults. Students
at Mary Thoma Workshops will gain not only the valuable experience of
acting in front of other students; they will also discover tools and
techniques to create their own individual acting process which will
last them for life and which applies to all mediums - theater, film, television, radio and public speaking .
Whether the student is pursuing acting as a creative outlet or as a
professional endeavor, MTW will inspire, instruct, nurture and
encourage the whole person - body, mind, and heart - while equipping the student to reach their personal goals.
