North Louisiana Actor/Director Wins National Video Contest
(Shreveport, LA) Never believe for a second that “local folks” aren’t getting seen on the big screen. On June 16, 2008, El Chico Mexican Restaurants announced actor/director Walt Hollis as the winner of their “What Makes Your El Chico Special?” video contest. Walt is from Benton, Louisiana, a suburb of Shreveport, LA, commonly known as Hollywood South.
Walt played “the waiter” in the video and co-directed it, along with another local actor/director Derek Johnson. Walt cast all local actors for his video, which was filmed at the Bossier City location of El Chico.
Walt began his film career appearing as an extra in several major motion pictures. He played a police officer in the Samuel L. Jackson and Eve Mendes film, “Cleaner.” Walt, also, played an airplane passenger in “Harold and Kumar 2: Escape from Guantanamo Bay.” In Stephen King’s “The Mist,” Walt played a bio-hazard engineer.
Walt has had numerous principal parts in movie trailers and independent films. Film clips of Walt’s work can be seen on his website, at www.walthollis.com or at www.myspace.com/walthollis. Walt has a lot of projects in the works for the future. So, as they say in Hollywood “We will see you in the movies!!”
