Position Summary:
Full-time salaried exempt level position reporting to the Director of Operations responsible for ensuring the highest quality picture and sound in all exhibition spaces of the Robinson Film Center. The Head Projectionist/Technology Coordinator oversees and/or performs basic daily maintenance on all equipment used in theaters, projection booth, and multi purpose spaces including equipment used for 35mm, digital presentations and video conferencing. In addition, Head Projectionist/Technology Coordinator will arrange for major preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to projection equipment to be performed as needed by an outside vendor.Will act as a support person for all aspects of computer networking (computers, phones, routers, video conferencing, cabling, wireless internet, etc.) in conjunction with Cisco Systems.35mm and projection room experience is a must!
Essential Functions:
Responsible for ensuring highest-quality picture and sound in all exhibition spaces of the Robinson Film Center.
Personally responsible for projection and/or overseeing all screenings in coordination with the projectionist staff, Director of Programming and Marketing, and Director of Operations.
Oversee and perform daily upkeep and maintenance on all equipment used in theaters, projection booth, multi-purpose spaces and off-premise events sponsored by RFC.
Builds and breaks down prints for 35mm films and/or digital media playing in both theaters, including creation of trailer packs, assembling films onto platter systems, and ensuring that digital pre-show and 35mm presentation merge seamlessly.
Assist other department heads and Director of Operations in planning and executing all on-premise special events requiring use of audio and projection equipment and/or video conferencing.Consult during the logistical planning phase of film festivals, private rentals, special events, and more.
Reset Media – Work with Director of Programming and Marketing and graphic designer to upload Reset Media imagery to web application. Assign each image to the appropriate screens; coordinate the regular changing of content.Reset Media is a program utilized within the Robinson Film Center to drive in-house and point-of-sale flat screen television advertising.
Assist all departments with A/V planning and logistic coordination of all onsite and off site RFC events including all business functions, receptions, and classes using our audio/visual spaces.
Assess IT/computer issues to be solved in-house and outsource if necessary.
Assist Director of Operations with computer, audio and projection equipment purchase, installation and maintenance.
Coordinate with Director of Programming & Marketing to maximize effectiveness of digital pre-show advertising.
Ensure that all materials exhibited on an RFC screen are approved by Director of Programming and Marketing and/or appropriate department heads.
Creation and maintenance of an A/V coordinator reference book outlining all procedures, job responsibilities, passwords, vendors and third party contractors, equipment operation and maintenance schedules.Note that the creation of this guide will almost certainly involve input from projectionist staff and appropriate department heads.
Weekly reporting on status of activities to Director of Operations.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Required:
Five years relevant experience with 35mm film projection systems, audio-visual equipment, video conferencing, etc.
High understanding of methods employed during the quality presentation of 35mm and digital image and sound
Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving the use of digital technology, computer and telecommunications systems, and ability to adapt this knowledge quickly in a rapidly-evolving field that increasingly utilizes digital signals
Able to work in a team with diverse roles, experiences and backgrounds and effective written and oral communication skills
Flexible and willing to promote and participate in a positive, multitasking, team work environment
Highly organized, hands-on and detail-oriented
Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Physical Demands:
Medium Work - Exerting 75-100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Physical demands will frequently involve the movement of film print canisters from one space to another.
