ROBINSON FILM CENTER TO HOST FIRST “SILVER SCREENINGS,” FOR SENIOR CITIZENS ON MONDAY, JUNE 9
Event will include screening of “Young @ Heart” and lunch is available from Abby Singer’s Bistro following the film.
The Robinson Film Center is premiering “Silver Screenings,” monthly programming for senior citizens on Monday, June 9 at 10:30 am. The award winning film Young @ Heart will kick off this program. The movie documents the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young at Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected, going against the stereotype of their age group, performing songs, for example, by James Brown, and Sonic Youth. Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs, not an easy endeavor, for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several real heart breaking events. Tickets to “Silver Screenings” include admission to the film screening and lunch from Abby Singer’s Bistro. They are available for $14.00 each and are on sell now. This event will have stadium seating but the theater is equipped to handle wheelchairs and electric scooters. Seating is limited and reservations are required. To reserve your seat call Kim Sizemore at (318) 459-4124. Tickets are not available for “Silver Screenings” at the Robinson Film Center box office and may not be purchased online. A ticket can be purchased by phone, at the senior citizen rate of $5.75, for the film screening only. Lunch will not be included but reservations are still required. No free admission passes issued by the Robinson Film Center will be accepted for this special screening.
The Robinson Film Center, now open at 617 Texas Street in downtown Shreveport, is a venue for independent, foreign, and classic cinema which also features Abby Singer’s Bistro, a full service bistro serving lunch and dinner.
