OSCAR-NOMINATED ACTRESS MARGARET AVERY TO HOST SCREENING OF “THE COLOR PURPLE” AT ROBINSON FILM CENTER

Tickets now on sale for July 6 screening

SHREVEPORT – The Robinson Film Center and River City Repertory Theatre will present a special screening of “The Color Purple” featuring a post-screening Q&A session with Academy Award-nominated actress Margaret Avery on Sunday, July 6 at 4:00 PM.  Avery, whose portrayal of “Shug” in “The Color Purple” was nominated for the 1985 Best Supporting Actress Academy Award, will field questions from the audience following the film.  Avery has also appeared in dozens of well-known film and television projects, including “Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins,” “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns,” and TV’s “JAG,” “Bones,” and more.  Admission to the screening is $25, with all proceeds benefiting The Robinson Film Center and River City Repertory Theatre.  Tickets to “The Color Purple” may be purchased by calling Kim Sizemore at (318) 459-4124, M-F, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.  Advanced ticket purchase is highly recommended.
