SAG ACTRESS AND THEATRE/FILM EDUCATOR MARY THOMA TO TEACH WORKSHOPS ON MONDAY, FEB. 15. FOR YOUNG ACTORS
Mary Thoma will lead two 3- hour workshops for young actors on Monday, Feb. 15. The two separate three-hour workshops, divided by age group, are $50 each. Workshops taught by Mary Thoma:
9 am - 12pm Creative dramatics games and exercises for the young actor ages 7-10 years
2 pm- 5pm Acting Exercises and Improvisation Games - come improve your skills while having a lot of fun! Ages 11-17.
Mary teaches 5th-8th grade students at Southfield Middle School and directs the Middle School Musicals. Her nine-week exploratory classes by grade level include the following course material: Introduction to Creative Dramatics, Introduction to Improvisation, Let's Throw A Wedding for Romeo and Juliet, and Introduction to Stagecraft and Technical Theatre.
As Co-Founder and Director of Education for the Shreveport Little Theatre & Academy, Mary creates and develops educational opportunities and teaches current Academy company members and students ages 14- 22. Some of the classes Mary teaches for SLTA include: Introduction to Theatre, The Actor's Process and she also leads an Actors' Support Group for SLTA
Mary also leads her popular MTW weekend workshops for actors of all ages
Ms. Thoma just returned from teaching at the Texas Educational Theatre Festival (TETA) Jan 21-24 where she worked with international acting teacher, Larry Silverberg. Other guest artists included Carol Channing and Bernadette Peters.

Ms. Thoma's recent film work includes The Last Lullaby (w/ Tom Sizemore) Mr. Brooks (w/ Kevin Costner and William Hurt), Lifetime television's Not Like Everyone Else, and ABC Family's The Initiation of Sarah.
On stage, she most recently performed in the Shreveport Little Theatre production of Neil Simon's RUMORS playing the progressively drunk socialite, Chris Gorman to wildly appreciative audiences. Prior to this, Ms. Thoma played the role of the bereaved mother Becca Corbitt in RABBIT HOLE and the eccentric and devoted drama teacher Ms. Darbus in High School Musical.
Ms Thoma is also a popular regional radio/television commercial talent and early morning live host for KTBS/KPXJ's Business Spotlights.
